SUSPECTED HERDSMAN ARRESTED FOR RAPING TO DEATH 56 YEAR OLD WOMAN IN EBONYI

Police have arrested a twenty year old herdsman, Laolu Issah, for allegedly raping a fifty-six year old woman, Mrs. Mary Okereke, to death at Ugwulangwu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Parading the suspect before newsmen at Police Headquarters Abakaliki, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Awosola Awotinde, explained that the herdsman allegedly waylaid Mrs. Okereke while she was returning from farm.

He stated that the suspected rapist was spotted on the act by a villager and abandoned his slippers and cap while fleeing the scene.

The suspected rapist Laolu Issah, who confessed to the crime before newsmen, said he committed the act under the influence of alcohol.

In the meantime, Police had concluded plans to arraign the suspect in court as at the time of filing this report.
