SOME STUDENTS OF ENUGU STATE GET ASSISTANCE FROM THE DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT

The Deputy President of the Senate, Chief Ike Ekweremadu has described education as liberator of man.

Chief Ekweremadu, stated this while announcing scholarship to ten university students and bursary award to three hundred and four others from Enugu State.

Winners of the ten scholarships will receive four hundred thousand naira each for their tuition for four years, while the other three hundred and four students received forty thousand naira bursary award each.

Speaking on the occasion at Udi Local Government Headquarters Udi, Enugu state, Senator Ekweremadu maintained that education opened doors of opportunities to man and advised the beneficiaries to make best use of it.

He explained that he embarked on the programme under Ikeoha Foundation as a way of giving back to the society that made him.

Senator Ekweremadu said he was happy that the programme now covered all the Local Government Areas of the state.

The Executive Director, Ike Oha Foundation, Mrs Cindy Ezeugwu explained that education, youth empowerment and skills acquisition were given utmost priority.

Some of the beneficiaries thanked Chief Ekweremadu for supporting them to realize their dreams and also contribute to nation building.

Over two hundred persons also celebrated their graduation from Adult Literacy Programme organised by the foundation, with songs, recitation and drama during the event.
