SIT-AT-HOME: PANIC IN EBONYI AS GUNMEN ATTACK MARKET, SHOOT CYCLIST, SET TRICYCLES ABLAZE

A gang of armed men enforcing sit-at-home order declared by a factional separatist group agitating for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu have attacked Isieke market in Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The gunmen, who dressed in flowing red apparel, were seen in a trending video firing high caliber guns with one aimed at a commercial motorcyclist waiting for a passenger.
Tricycles were also set ablaze as people at the market scampered for safety.
The gunmen, who operated with an identifiable number plated Sienna Bus, also attacked Ukwuagba Police Checkpoint in Ohaukwu Local government Area, where they allegedly set a Police Van ablaze.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said operatives of the Command were on the trail of the gunmen, noting that no life was lost in the attacks.
Meanwhile, Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Jude Okpor, said the state government was colloborating with security agencies to hunt down the gunmen and urged residents of the state to go about their lawful activities.
Radio Nigeria observed that the attacks caused panic within Abakaliki metropolis and distorted vehicular traffic, with some schools and businesses closing abruptly.
