SECURITY AGENCIES URGED TO FISH OUT MURDERS OF A HEALTH WORKER IN ENUGU

Association of University Graduate of Nursing Services of Nigeria wants security agencies to conduct proper investigation into the recent murder of one of its members, Mrs Mary Amadi.

It also wants them to bring the perpetrators to face the wrath of the law.

Leaders of the association stated this while briefing journalists in Enugu on developments surrounding the gruesome murder of the Head of Nursing Services, Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu, Mrs Mary Amadi.

Mrs Mary Amadi was murdered in a cold blood at her residence located at Federal Housing Estate Enugu on the 21st March of 2019.

Following the incident, three of her co-workers at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu were arrested, arraigned at a Customary Court and sent to prison custody.

Briefing newsmen in Enugu, the National Secretary, Comrade Goodluck Nshi described the killing as abominable and vowed that the association would stop at nothing to ensure justice for its deceased member.

While expressing regret over the continuous detention of two of their members in connection with the murder, Comrade Nshi explained that a private investigation conducted by the association revealed that one local security officer in charge of the area was ready to provide useful information on the matter.

Comrade Nshi urged those who said that names were mentioned by the deceased before her death to come up with such evidence to help security to prevent persecution of the innocent ones.

Also, contributing, the Enugu State Secretary of the Association, Comrade Oliver Nwodo said the association was monitoring the case closely to ensure that justice was served.

In an interview, the lawyer to two of the detainees, Mr Joseph Ogbuka gave further insight into the matter.

Mr. Ogbuka said he was not convinced of the reasons given for the detention of his clients and vowed to pursue justice for them at the High Court.
