SALLAH: FRSC DEPLOYS OVER 1000 PERSONAL TO FLASHPOINTS IN ANAMBRA

OBY ARINZE

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State says it will deploy one thousand and twenty personnel, comprising regular and special Marshalls to roads for the Eid-El-Kabir celebration.

This is to ensure free flow of traffic in the area.

The Sector Commander, FRSC in Anambra State, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, made this known in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Awka.

Mr. Irelewuyi said the command had deployed all its personnel to man the identified troubled areas in the flash points of the state.

Some of the flash points are the Enugu Onitsha Expressway and the Old Awka-Onitsha Road, before Awka as well as the Upper Iweka.

The FRSC boss also pointed out that the corps had also deployed its men to the Aguata axis for vehicles moving towards Imo and other parts of the South East.

On the Niger Bridge area, the Sector Commander said the corps was also monitoring the axis, emphasizing that it was not envisaging much problems because of the opening of the Second Niger Bridge.

Mr. Irelewuyi said his personnel had also discouraged commercial drivers from loading goods and passengers on top of the old bridge.

The Anambra State FRSC sector Commander told Radio Nigeria that its tow trucks were on standby to remove any broken down vehicle to ensure free traffic flow during the Sallah celebration.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government had declared Wednesday, June 28 and Thursday, June 29 as Public Holidays to celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir.
