RURAL AND URBAN ROADS IN ENUGU STATE TO RECEIVE FACELIFT

Enugu State Executive Council has approved another set of road rehabilitation and reconstruction worth over one billion naira across the State.

This formed part of the resolutions reached at the Council`s meeting as announced by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Doctor Festus Uzor  and the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Greg Nnaji.

Briefing journalists on the outcome of the meeting, the Chief of Staff said that the over ten kilometres road cut across strategic axis in both rural and urban areas in the State.

“It also approved construction of six new strategic roads spread across the various parts of the state and also approved  construction of five existing roads. The council also approved the fencing and beautification of the Aria market entrance as well as the ones to old park and GRA at the cost of seven million, four hundred and five thousand  Naira”.

Doctor Uzor said the Council also approved projects in the areas of security and justice, education, social services and human development.

More so, the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr.  Greg Nnaji, in his clarification on the approvals for road rehabilitation and reconstruction, said contractors were ready to be mobilized to field for immediate commencement of work.

“And these roads are necessary bypass to decongest Nike Lake road, these roads are solid. Construction of Amajioka, Umuikeoha, Aguoba and Okpuoba roads in Udenu Local Government Area. Construction of Ogurute, Mkpamude Idogo road, Ikpamudo, Okpo, Amaja road in Igboeze North local government. The council approved the construction of Ogurude Umuogbo ulo, isiugbu Umuogbu ika road”.

Mr. Nnaji added that there would be aggressive work on the roads within three months to be completed before the next rain.
