POWA EMPOWERS POLICE OFFICERS’ WIDOWS, CALL FOR PROMPT PAYMENT OF GRATUITY OF DECEASED OFFICERS

Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Imo State Chapter, wants the police high commands to address the issue of delays experienced in the payment of gratuities to families of deceased policemen.

Chairperson of POWA in the state, Mrs. Abimbola Akinmoyede, made the call while distributing empowerment materials and some cash gifts to wives of fallen police officers in Owerri.

She said the equipment were meant to assist the widows to improve their well being and contribute more positively to the growth of the economy.

Mrs. Akinmoyede, who is the wife of the State Commissioner of Police, said the beneficiaries included wives of policemen who were either injured or killed during the #ENDSARS protest and those that lost their lives in the line of duty.

Some of the beneficiaries thanked the association for the gesture and promised to utilize the equipment judiciously.

Thirty-two women received the items, which included sewing machines, grinding machines, popcorn machines, refrigerators, food items and cash.
