GOV UMAHI DIRECTS CLOSURE OF SCHOOLS IN EBONYI BEFORE FRIDAY

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has directed the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Onyebuchi Chima, to shut down all schools in the state latest Thursday this week.

Speaking at a Thanksgiving Service in Abakaliki, Chief Umahi explained that the directive was to forestall the second wave of coronavirus pandemic in the state.

He also directed the State Ministry of Finance to pay the state civil servants ten thousand Naira as Christmas bonus to enable them to celebrate the season with their families.

According to the Governor, the state government is committed to checking insecurity and will do everything within its reach to end cultism that has claimed some lives in the state.

Earlier in a sermon, the Government House Chaplain, Pastor Eunice Oyeyemi, urged the people of the state to develop the attitude of thanksgiving as its the shortest way of encouraging God to do more.
