POLICE DETAIN WOMAN MALTREATING INFANT HOUSE-HELP IN ANAMBRA

The Anambra State Government has warned that anyone caught abusing a child or ward in the state must be made to face the consequences of their actions.
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, made this known shortly after she led a team, alongside police operatives, that apprehended one Chinyere Ifesinachi for physically abusing her house help in Nnnewi.
Shortly after she was apprehended, the 25-year-old suspect, who hails from Idemmili North and married to an Enugu State man, agreed to have used both cane and pestle to beat the house help to pulp for mistakenly throwing her newborn baby to the ground.
She however pleaded with the Commissioner and security agencies to forgive her blaming, her actions on the devil.
The Commissioner, Mrs. Obinabo, commended the Nigerian police for always partnering the state government in ensuring that such cases were handled professionally and in record time.
The arrest followed a viral video on social media showing the little girl, who sustained several injuries on her face with old and new marks of canes on her body allegedly perpetrated by her caregiver.
The little girl, Idimmachukwu, has been taken to hospital for medical examination and treatment while the perpetrator is cooling of in police custody with the Commissioner insisting she will face the full weight of the law.
Meanwhile, Radio Nigeria gathered that the culprit related to the mother of the little girl who was sent to live with her after she was delivered of twins about two months ago.
