POLICE BRUTALITY: ANAMBRA YOUTHS HOLD CANDLE LIGHT PROCESSION

Youths in Anambra State Wednesday evening gathered at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka to mark a peaceful candle light procession in solidarity with the on-going call for a better Nigeria.

During the solemn event, youths took turns to pray for the repose of sons and daughters of the country who met their untimely death in the hands of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives.

They also used the medium to call on the government to urgently attend to their demands, which were anchored on reforming the country for a better living condition for all.

Priests, including the Reverend Father Jude Banabey, were also on ground to pray and advise youths on the need to remain peaceful and look up to God for a total emancipation and turn around of events across the country.

The leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing in Anambra State, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, said youths were agitating against bad leadership, oppression and the unlawful killing of innocent citizens.

He cautioned fellow youths to remain peaceful and law abiding as well as resolute in the struggle for a better country for all.

The candle light memorial night offered some families and friends of victims of police brutality the opportunity to pray for a peaceful repose of their loved ones even as they called on government to urgently address their demands.
