ENDSARS PROTEST: UMAHI ORDERS DISMANTLING OF SECURITY ROAD BLOCKS IN EBONYI

As ENDSARS protest continues across the country, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has ordered immediate dismantling of all road blocks mounted by the police and the Army on major roads in Ebonyi State.

Addressing #ENDSARS protesters who blocked the gate of Government House Abakaliki, Chief Umahi noted that he would interface with the Commissioner of Police and the Army Commander in the State to ensure the implementation of the directive.

He noted that he was in support of the demands of the protesters and promised to implement resolutions reached at the National Economic Council meeting on their demands.

Governor Umahi also conceded to the request by the protesters that tertiary institutions be reopened latest Wednesday, October 21, 2020 for academic activities after being shut down for the past five months over ASUU strike.

One of the protesters, Mr. Steve Ugama, said they were protesting against police brutality and urged the government to commence reforms immediately.

The protesters also blocked Government House Roundabout thereby cutting traffic from Udensi to Waterworks Road for over six hours.
