Police arrests Herdsman with AK-47 rifle in Enugu

The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Adamumale, claimed that he hailed from Nasarawa State.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, told journalists that Adamumale was arrested on Monday in Affa community, Udi Local Government Area of the state by the police, who acted on a tip off from residents of the area.
Amaraizu said that in his bid to escape, the suspect fired six shots into the air to scare the police, but the officers closed in on him and arrested him.
According to Amaraizu, members of the community confirmed that Adamumale was fond of wielding the rifle within and outside the area to instill fear on them.
Adamumale, who has been detained by the police, said he lives at Hausa Quarters at 9th Mile, near Enugu.
Amaraizu said the suspect is helping the police in their investigation on how he got the rifle.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, has expressed delight at the effort of his men and the community which led to the arrest of Adamumale.
Ojukwu pledged that his command will continue to partner with relevant stakeholders and sister security agencies to secure the state.
