The Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested six suspected members of an armed robbery gang. A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Daniel Ndukwe Ekea, indicates that the arrest followed a tip off.

The statement enumerated the six suspected armed robbers whose age ranges from twenty-one to thirty-five as Ekene Eneh, Chinedu Ani, Chidiebere Ogwudire, Chidera Okeugwu, Onyedika Jideofor and Sunday Okereke

The suspect led the Operatives to where they arrested Ani Chinedu and Chidiebere, Ogwudire who allegedly sold the Tricycle to him. On 25th March, 2020, the suspects further led the Operatives to the same Ugbo-Odogwu area, where Jideofor Onyedika was arrested,” the statement enumerated.
Other materials allegedly recovered from the suspects were an AK-47 rifle with No. 12097; three live ammunition, one cutlass, one Infinix Hot and Samsung Galaxy S7 phones.
According to the statement, “preliminary investigation show that the suspects have been involved in several armed robbery operations in the State, while further investigation is ongoing to identify, arrest and prosecute other members of the gang now at large.”
In the meantime, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmad Abdurrahman, has enjoined citizens of the State to remain vigilante and report criminals and acts of criminality to the Police.
While commending his men for a work well done, the Police Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackle criminality in the state, especially in these trying times of the COVID-19 scourge.
