POLICE ARREST FORMER IBC DG FOR ALLEGED MURDER OF WIFE

An eighty-two year old man, Theophilus Okere from Imerienwe in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, has allegedly stabbed his wife, Beatrice to death.

It is not yet clear what led to the murder as the man allegedly fled the community shortly after committing the crime.

The suspect is a former Director General of Imo Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) while his deceased wife retired from the state Polytechnic Umuagwo.

The couple was said to have been married for more than fifty years.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Imo State Command, Mr. Orlando Ikeokwu, who confirmed the incident, said security agents quickly embarked commenced a manhunt of the fleeing suspect and later arrested him.

The PPRO vowed that the command would bring him to book.

He told Radio Nigeria that the remains of the victim had been deposited to a morgue while investigation had commenced.
