PERSONS WITH DISABILITY SOLICIT THE SUPPORT OF THE WIFE OF ENUGU STATE GOVERNOR

Persons with disability have solicited the support of the wife of Enugu State Governor, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi, in the passage of the state Special Needs Bill, The national Coordinator of Enugu Civil Society Disability Policy Partnership; Comrade Samuel Obiefuna made the appeal when members of the group visited Mrs. Ugwuanyi at the government house Enugu.

Dr. Godstime Okoafor, the legal adviser and Patron of the group explained that in the Special Needs Bill, there should be quota of people living with disability in Enugu State that they should be given employment opportunity. Another Patron of the group an Arch bishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical province Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma called for Sanitisation of the state Ministry of genders affairs alleging that some persons in the Ministry temper with money and some items provided for persons with disability. He also appealed to Mrs. Ugwuanyi to use her influence to resuscitate the Vocational rehabilitation centre Emene as those taking to the centre had returned to the street beginning for arms.

Responding, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi advised persons with disability and Special Needs to exploit and use their talents to better their lives and own public respect instead of beginning for arms. She promised to Champion their calls and pledged continue support to their welfare. The group conferred on Mrs. Ugwuanyi the mouth piece of the handicapped.
