PENSIONERS IN ENUGU STATE CALL FOR CONSISTENT AND PROMPT PAYMENT OF PENSION AND GRATUITIES

Consistent and prompt payment of pension and gratuity has been identified as a panacea for an improved living condition of pensioners.

This was the assertion of some members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Enugu State while speaking with newsmen.

The pensioners who commended the State Governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for ensuring the prompt payment of their monthly pension after the biometric verification of pensioners in the State, appealed to the Governor to sustain the good work.

They however lamented the non-payment of pension over the years   which they said had subjected them to untold hardship.

The Chairman of the group, Chief Thomas Ukwuani and a member NzeNduagubaAgu called on the government to also look into the backlog of pension arrears and gratuities owed them.

They used the occasion to remind members of Abakpa Nike Branch of the Union of election of their officials scheduled for fourteenth of this month at the Enugu Main Sub-Treasury by eight o’clock in the morning.

The Senior citizens asked the members to come along with their pension identity cards for the election and urged those who would supervise it to ensure free and credible poll.
