REPORTER: CHINAZO ILECHUKWU

One thousand, seven hundred and twenty-two Batch A stream II National Youth Service Corps members posted to Imo State have been charged to remain committed to the promotion of unity and national cohesion.

The Imo State Governor, Chief Hope Uzodimma, made the call at Eziama-Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area during the opening of a three-week orientation course organized for corps members deployed to the area.

He urged them to participate actively in national assignments, especially, in the forthcoming national population census.

Governor Uzodimma, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mrs. Chioma Ibezim, encouraged the youth to take advantage of skill and entrepreneurship programmes available in the camp to empower themselves.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, advised the corps members to be selfless, diligent and patriotic, noting that the scheme would reward those who distinguished themselves during the service.

The oath of allegiance was administered to the corps members by a high court Judge, Justice Mike Onyekachi.
