PARENTS URGEDTO ASSIST IN REVIVING IGBO LANGUAGE TO GIVE THE SOUTH EAST A PRIDE OF PLACE

Parents are advised to teach their children Igbo Language to keep it from extinction.

The Chairman of Igboekulie Association, Prof. Chibueze Jiiburum gave the advice when he led his team on a visit to the management of FRCN Enugu National Station.

 

“Igbo language is our life, we have to prompt Igbo language, is very important”.

Also, speaking, the President of the Association, Mr Ben Onwuora urged parents to join hands in reviving Igbo Language in the South East to give the people a pride of place.

They said the aim of the visit was to inform members of the public about the forthcoming Igbokulie conference on 25th November 2017, at College of the Immaculate Conception Enugu.

They also intimated that an award would be given to the student with the best result in Igbo Language during the WAEC Examination of June this year.

Responding, the Zonal Director represented by Deputy Director, Internal Audit, Mr Frank Okolie thanked the committee and promised that the station would assist in publicizing the conference.

“As part of the objectives, we feel that our language is dying, it will be a sad commentary for all of us”.

 

The theme of this year’s conference is “Igboamaka”.
