OVER 25 WORKERS OF IMO STATE PENSION BOARD INVOLVED IN FRAUDULENT ACTS TO BE ARRESTED.
Imo State Government has begun installment payment of pension arrears to retirees in the area .
Governor Rochas Okorocha who monitored the commencement at Imo Convention Center Owerri, said that the exercise would last one week.
The governor announced that three months of the pension would be paid this week while another three months would be paid next week.
He said it was not the intention of the government to seize pensioners’ money but that some workers in the Pensions Board were allegedly issuing repeated cheques mounting to six hundred million naira.
To this end, the State Governor ordered for the arrest and detention of over twenty-five pension workers who were involved in the acts.
The exercise witnessed free medical services for the pensioners.
