OTTI BLAMES IKEAZU’S GOVT FOR DELAY IN WORKER’S PAYMENT

REPORTER: PEACE AGBO

Abia State Government says fititious figures and numbers of alleged funds by immediate administration are the reasons delaying the payment of salaries and arrears of pensions in the state.

Governor Alex Otti made this known while speaking at the special thanksgiving service of the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency , Mr. Obi Aguocha, at the Nkwoegwu Central School, Ohuhu Umuahia North Local Government Area.

The Governor, who pleaded with workers and pensioners to be patient, assured them that their pay would come at the end of this month.

He restated that the alleged debts left by the immediate past administration were enomous and vowed to offset them, stressing that he would not spend time responding to distractions.

While noting that his full cabinet would be constituted by the end of this June, Governor Otti said that setting up the cabinet would enable his government to run smoothly.

He expressed the hope that the recent inauguration of the State House of Assembly would give impetus to effective running of the government.

The Governor, who described Umuahia, the capital city of Abia State, as a glorified village, announced that in the next three months, his administration would begin the process of transforming the city to enhance its aesthetics.
