OBIANO THREATENS TO DEAL WITH ARMED HEARDMEN

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has warned herdsmen in the state who carry dangerous weapons to desist from the act or be ready to face the wrath of the law.

Speaking during a reception in his Aguleri, country house, Chief Obiano assured the people of the state that the administration was monitoring the situation.

He maintained that on no account should herdsmen wielding AK-47 rifle and other dangerous weapons be allowed in the state.

The governor said as the chief security officer of the state, he had been briefed on the update about herdsmen – host communities relations, stressing that his government had commenced actions to forestall any incident that might lead to mayhem or loss of lives.

Chief Obiano explained that part of the measures taken to address the issue was sensitizing both the host communities and the herdsmen to the existing agreement that any party that destroyed either the lives or property of the other would pay and also be prosecuted.

Chief Obiano reassured the farmers in the state of his administration’s commitment to put an end to the cattle invasion on their farmlands.
