NYSC IN ABIA STATE MARKS 45TH ANNIVERSARY WITH CALL ON YOUTHS TO SHUN ACTS CAPABLE OF JEOPARDIZING THEIR FUTURE

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Abia State, Mrs Ifeyinwa Uwasomba says the dreams of establishing the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in the country have been actualized.

Mrs Uwasomba made this known during the Forty Fifth Anniversary of NYSC in Umuahia.

She noted that the Scheme was aimed at raising a crop of highly disciplined and de-tribalized Nigerian youths as well as affording them the opportunity of serving in communities in their primary assignment for national development and integration.

She urged youths to shun acts such as robbery, use of hard drugs, prostitution and other social vices capable of jeopardizing their future.

Also speaking on the occasion, the State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps in Abia State, Mrs Francesca Ifon said the Scheme had inculcated in the  youths, the spirit of selfless service to the nation.

Some of the corps members in an interview expressed joy for being part of the celebration.

The event featured road rally by corps members and staff of NYSC in the State.
