NO MOVEMENT AFTER 9PM IS FAKE NEWS — ANAMBRA GOVERNMENT TELLS RESIDENTS
The Anambra State Government says it has not issued new directives after the seat at home order as announced by the Governor Willie Obiano. The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr. Uchenna Okafor, made this known in a telephone chat with Radio Nigeria.
The Commissioner’s reaction followed announcements across some communities on total lockdown. The said announcement warned residents against the consequences of being outside after nine o’clock in the evening
According to the Commissioner, major markets in the state remain closed except those dealing in health related items and food food stuff. Mr. Okafor enjoined the people to always observe social distancing and wash their hands under running water as well as apply alcohol based sanitizer.
He appealed to food stuff traders not to see the COVID-19 Pandemic as an opportunity to extort money from their customers. Also, reacting to the rumoured directive, the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Christian Madubuko, said such announcement did not emanate from the Anambra State Government.
Radio Nigeria gathered that there was panic in some communities in the state after the announcement, which forbade movement beyond nine o’clock in the evening.
