NO LASSA FEVER CASE IN ANAMBRA – DR LAWRENCE IKEAKO

downloadThe Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku-Awka Doctor Lawrence Ikeakor Says there is no current case of Lassa fever in Anambra state.  Doctor Ikeakor stated this while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Awka.

According to Dr. Ikeakor,   a patient suspected to have the symptom of Lassa fever was admitted and handled professionally about two weeks ago before the state ministry of Health took her to Federal Diagnostic Centre Irua in Edo State where it was confirmed that she had the virus.

The Chief Medical Director noted that all the health officers that camein contact with the patient were put under surveillance and had been confirm healthy and free. Dr. Ikeakor who said there was no course for panic advised the people to be hygiene conscious at  all times, especially about food items including garri, beans and rice.

On speculations and comment from the public over upward review of medical bills at the Teaching Hospital that led to protest by some pregnant women few weeks ago, Dr. Ikeakor said after considerations, the management board had reversed the situation.
