NIGERIA MARKS WORLD HEPATITIS DAY WITH THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY

WHDLogoToday is World Hepatitis Day. World Hepatitis Day is observed globally every July 28 as declared by the World Health organization, WHO.

The event is one of the eight official global public health campaigns marked by the organization since May 2010. Hepatitis is a group of infectious disease known as Hepatitis A,B,C,D and E which requires diagnosis treatment and prevention.

Hepatitis is the inflammation of the liver which is commonly caused by a viral infection but there are other possible causes of Hepatitis.

Immune hepatitis is a secondary result of indications, drugs toxins and alcohol. The common symptoms of the viral infection include fatigue, dark urine, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, weight loss among others.

World Hepatitis Day aims to increase awareness and understanding of viral hepatitis as well as contribution to the implementation of the global viral hepatitis elimination strategy till 2030.

The day is marked in over one hundred countries each year through events such as free screenings, poster campaigns, demonstrations, talk shows and vaccination drives.
