LEAGUE OFFICALS INSPECT UMUAHIA TOWNSHIP STADIUM

REPORTER: PEACE AGBO

Officials of the Nigeria Football League say they are impressed with the flourishing state of the Umuahia Township Stadium, the home ground of Abia Warriors Football Club.

The leader of the team, Perila Aboro of the Bayelsa State League, made his feelings known during an inspection on the quality of the naturally grassed pitch of the playing surface.

The surface was recently renovated, a development Mr. Aboro described as cute transformation.

The pitch had received extensive renovation after Abia Warriors Football Club were banished from the home ground by the football authorities following complaints from other premier league clubs hosted on the pitch.

Also speaking with journalists on the benefits of playing on a naturally grassed football pitch, Chairman of the Club, John Obuh, said efforts had been made to upgrade the Umuahia Stadium to global standards.

Meanwhile officials and fans of Abia Warriors are optimistic that the Nigeria football authorities will soon lift the ban on the club, allowing them return to their home ground.
