IFAD SUPPORTS OVER 20 THOUSAND FARMERS IN EBONYI

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) said it has supported over twenty thousand farmers in Ebonyi State with marching grant worth over one billion Naira since inception. Ebonyi State Coordinator of IFAD, Dr. Sunday Ituma, announced this in Abakaliki during the visit of the daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari, Hajiya Fatima Buhari who is IFAD National Market and Enterprises Development Advisor.

Dr. Ituma explained that the marching grant had generated over ten-point-seven billion Naira as return on investment for the benefiting farmers. Hajiya Fatima Buhari commended IFAD for synergizing with the Federal and State governments to transform the nation’s agricultural sector through the release of grants and training of farmers.

The IFAD Advisor, who visited some government owned and private rice mills in the state, pointed out that she was impressed with facilities put in place for increased rice production in the area.
