HOODLUMS SET COURT ABLAZE IN EBONYI

An Ebonyi State High Court sitting in Owutu Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area of the state has been set ablaze by hoodlums barely twenty four hours after Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

The Registrar of the Court, Mrs. Oluchi Uduma, told Radio Nigeria in Abakaliki that the court was set ablaze early by 2am.on Monday.

She noted that youths of the area made efforts to quench the fire and apprehend the suspected arsonists but could not, emphasising that the hoodlums had on the March 15, 2023 attempted to set the Court ablaze but failed.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Afikpo South Local Government Area, Mr. Chima Ekumankama, said the local vigilance team deployed to the court was distracted by someone who called them to come to a nearby school only for the court which it was guarding to be set ablaze.

He noted that the matter was reported to the police while efforts were been made to arrest the perpetrators.

Efforts to get the reaction of the police failed.
