GROUP CAMPAIGNS FOR PEACE IN ABOR COMMUNITY

Nigerians have been called to love one another to ensure a peaceful society.

The National Coordinator, Volunteer Peace Advocates Project,

(V-PAD), Mr. Elias Igwe, made the call during a peace talk shop and advocacy programme in Abor, Udi Local Government Area.

Mr. Igwe stated that the organization, in collaboration with some security agencies, aimed to strengthen peace in the society through dialogue rather than court litigations.

According to Mr. Igwe, the event was organized to provide the people with the opportunity to express their grievances for peaceful resolution of crisis.

He appealed to the people to join the organization as they stood to gain a lot.

In a remark, the Enugu State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSDC) represented by the Assistant Commandant, Mrs. Charity Esokawu, urged the people to ensure that peace reigned in their community.

Also, the traditional ruler of Abor Community, Igwe Chukwudi Ngwudile, commended the group for their efforts to maintain peace.

Two members of V-PAD, Mr. Nathaniel Nwachukwu and Mr. Peter Nwinya, told Radio Nigeria that they would not relent in their peace building efforts.

The theme of this year’s event was “The Rights to Peace.”
