GOWON PRAYS FOR NIGERIA’S PEACE IN OWERRI
A former Head of State, Retired General Yakubu Gowon, has called on Nigerians to leave peacefully with one another for a prosperous nation.
General Gowon, who made this known when he led a delegation on a courtesy call to the Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, enjoined citizens to pray fervently for God’s intervention in the country.
He thanked the State Government for supporting the rally called “Nigeria Prays” which is scheduled in Owerri the State capital, with the theme “Arise Oh Lord”.
He said the programme was formed in 1999 to help pray for the country in her challenges and enhance unity among different religions.
Responding, the Imo State Governor, Chief Okorocha, expressed the State’s readiness to pray for desired development to thrive.
Governor Okorocha, who said the State had seen the benefit of prayers, condemned the incessant killings in some parts of the country.
Governor Okorocha urged the members of the delegation to always pray for Imo State and the country at large.
