GOVERNOR HOPE UZODINMA ANNOUNCED SCHOLARSHIP TO ESSAY WINNER IN IMO STATE

As part of efforts to promote quality education and make it competitive in various schools, the Imo state Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma has announced scholarship to the overall winner of twenty twenty secondary school essay competition sponsored by state government.
Senator Uzodinma who received the winners at the government house Owerri said the move became imperative to deepen the intellect of the young ones in order to advance further in academics. He said the essay competition will enable the students sharpen their writing skills and expose them globally to represent the country in future competitions.
Governor Uzodinma stressed that the exercise was a conscious effort of his administration to enlighten the students to acquaint themselves with the workings of democracy which was one of the reasons for organizing the program. Earlier the Commissioner for Information and Strategy Chief. Declan Emelumba said the process involved employed in selecting the winners was transparent noting that the essay had broadened the knowledge of the students.
The Principal of Government Secondary school Owerri Reverend Jamike Ekeh who presided over the three stages of the competition that produced the winners explained that more than two hundred students participated in the essay competition. He said the essay was written in three media houses which included Radio Nigeria Heartland FM Owerri, Orient FM and My-Radio FM Owerri.
The overall winner Miss Goodness Opara from Anara community secondary school in Isiala Mbano local government area expressed gratitude to the state government for the scholarship granted to her. The first winner received a cash of five hundred thousand naira while second and third winners received two hundred and fifty thousand naira each. Top government officials and heads of media organisations including the General Manager Radio Nigeria Heartland FM Chief Basil Uzoma witnessed the event.
