GOV UZODINMA SIGNS BILLS ON SMES AND DONOR FUNDS INTO LAW

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has signed into law two executive bills. They are bills to establish “Imo State Micro Small and Medium Industrial Development Agency and Other Related Matters” and bill to establish a “Bureau to Coordinate, Supervise and Monitor all Projects” undertaken by donor agencies and development partners in the state.
While signing the two bills at the State Executive Council Chambers Government House, Owerri, the Governor commended the leadership of the state House of Assembly for being efficient and functional in the discharge of their legislative duties. He stressed that the new laws would strengthen the economic sector in the state and ensure the state got value for monies spent.
At the event, the Speaker of the House, Mr. Chiji Collins, went further to explain that the first bill would be a focal point for rural industrialization agency, poverty alleviation and creation of jobs for livelihood.
While the second bill would supervise the activities of donor agencies and development partners as well as liaising with state MDA’S to ensure executive implementation of approved projects in the state.
