GOV. OTTI APPOINTS SSG, CHIEF OF STAFF, OTHERS; FREEZES STATE ACCOUNTS, DISSOLVES BOARDS

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has approved the appointment of Professor Kenneth Kalu as Secretary to the state government; and Pastor Caleb Ajagba as his Chief of Staff.

A statement by his Special Adviser
Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, says Mrs. Njum Onyemenam is also appointed the Accountant General of the state.

According to the statement, the Governor also approved the appointments of Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo as Special Adviser Health Care Delivery Services; Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, Special Adviser Media and Publicity;
and Mr. Kazie Ukoh, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor as well as Mr. Ogbonnia Okereke as Head, Special Taskfore on Emergency Clean-up of Aba & Umuahia.

The statement further explained that the appointments took immediate effect.

In another development, Governor Otti has directed the immediate freezing of all State Government’s accounts.

Also directed to freeze are accounts of all agencies domiciled in every bank and financial institution across the State and the Federation.

A statement by his Special Adviser Media & Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, says all banks and other financial institutions in the country are directed to stop honouring any cheque, document, instrument or directive of any kind not expressly approved by or emanating from Governor Otti.

Similarly, Governor Otti has directed the immediate dissolution of all boards of the Abia State Government agencies and parastatals.

The Governor ordered the Chief Executives of the affected organisations to hand over to those next most senior officer.
