The Anambra State Government has inaugurated some infrastructure aimed at boosting economic activities in the three senatorial districts in the area.
Inaugurating the strategic roads and bridges to ease traffic, Governor Willie Obiano explained that the road network would help fast-tract the socio-economic activities and give a facelift to the state.
The projects inaugurated included the four-point-three Saint Peter’s University, Achina- Onneh Road awarded in 2014; some selected roads in Nnewi, including the two point four kilometers Nnobi to Nnewi road, two-point-four kilometers Ozubulu road and two-point-four kilometers road in Oraifite.
Others were the Nengo Bridge, Nteje; the three-point-two Umueze Igboezunu-Adani Road Aguleri; the four-point-eight kilometers Awkuzu SARS Junction – Abube Square Nando road with a twenty meter Bridge, over six kilometers road, which also had seven culverts as well as the one-point-two kilometers Stamford road, Awka.
On the occasion, Governor Willie Obiano stated that his administration had completed over one thousand kilometers of roads.
He said that the construction of those roads was part of his administration’s efforts to enhance road infrastructure and improve the lives of the citizens and commended youths for assisting the contractors to work and deliver the projects within the stipulated time.
The Governor noted that the economic importance of the roads was enormous and called on the people to adopt environmental best practices by desilting their drainages.
He called on residents to stop burning tyres on tarred roads for durability and assured that he would not relent in constructing and completing all ongoing roads in the area.
The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Marcel Ifejiofor, who applauded the Governor for embarking on projects with strong socio-economic importance commended the contractors for delivering quality job within the stipulated time and assured the people of more dividends of democracy .
