GOOD FRIDAY: ANGLICAN PRIEST CALLS FOR ASSISTANCE TO THE POOR
Christians have been reminded of the need to live a life of sacrifice.
A clergyman, the Reverend Canon Ngozi Onwuka, made the call in a message to mark the Good Friday at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church, World Bank Housing Estate, Umuahia.
The Reverend Canon Onwuka explained that Jesus Christ made the highest sacrifice of dying on the cross for the deliverance, salvation and forgiveness of the the sins of mankind.
He encouraged Christians to emulate the likes of Abraham and Solomon in the Bible, who made different sacrifices to God and assisted the less privileged amongst them.
The priest noted that sacrifice and care for others were necessary, especially in this trying times of COVID-19 and challenges brought about by the virus.
While commending government’s efforts in preventing further spread of COVID-19 in the country, the Anglican clergyman called on Christians to use the holy week to pray for God’s intervention to end the dreaded disease.
