FIRE CONSUMES ANOTHER BUILDING IN ENUGU

Fire has gutted the top floor of a building located at no. 7 Egede Close, New Haven Enugu, Enugu State.

The inferno which was suspected to have started from an electric cooker began at about two O’clock yesterday.

Describing the incident as very devastating, one of the victims, Mrs. Josephine Nwankwo noted that they could not secure any of their property as they were more concerned about ensuring that no one got trapped in the fire.

Another victim, Mrs. Justina Aneke while narrating their ordeal noted that by the time the officials of the State Fire Service arrived at the scene, all their property had been razed.

Mrs. Aneke appealed to well meaning Nigerians, Agencies and governments to assist in cushioning the effect of the loss.

For Mr. Clement Nwankwo, all he had was the only clothe he was putting on.

He however thanked God that no life was lost.

Meanwhile, the officials of the National Emergency Management Agency who were at the scene on assessment declined comment, saying that they were not authorised to do so.

Speaking on the response call they got from the residents of the area, the Zonal Commander, Enugu State Fire Service in charge of Ogui Fire Station, Mr. Ambrose Okwor said his men made efforts to put off the fire.
