FIRE CONSUMES 11 YEAR OLD BOY & SCHOOL DORMITORY IN AWADA

An eleven year old junior secondary school one boy has been burnt to death by fire in Anambra state .

The fire incident, which occurred at Patterson Memorial Grammar School, Awada in Idemili South local Government Area, completely burnt down a dormitory in the school.

The victim, Chigozie Dimanyichie, did not go out with other students for prayers and was caught up in the inferno that burnt him beyond recognition.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Anambra State, Mr. Haruna Muhammed, explained that police detectives visited the scene and took the victim to the hospital where he was certified dead by a medical doctor.

It said that the corpse was photographed and deposited at the mortuary for postmortem.

The statement noted that though the cause of the fire and value of property destroyed were yet to be ascertained, the commissioner of police, Mr. John Abang, had ordered for a discreet investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The fire, which occurred at about ten o’clock Sunday night, was later put off by the concerted efforts of the staff and students of the school.
