Enugu State Government postpones its town hall meeting

2016_06_16_78980The Enugu State Government has postponed the town hall meeting on provision of adequate drinking water for residents of the state slated for this month.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Uwakwe Abugu, the postponement was occasioned by the on-going meetings and negotiations between the state government, some interest groups and business interests whose vital inputs are certainly central to the dynamics of the proposed town hall meeting.

Mr Abugu stated that as soon as these preparatory talks and  critical engagements are concluded, all the stakeholders required to attend the meeting would be informed accordingly.‎

He however noted that initiating the plan for a town hall meeting where relevant stakeholders would brainstorm on the knotty issue of inadequate supply of drinking water for the populace, the state government desires to tap from the suggestions and inputs of the stakeholders to enable it arrive at ideal lasting solution to the problem.

Following the recent announcement for a grant of one hundred million naira by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi  to the state Water Corporation to enable it to rehabilitate its facilities to meet the water needs of the residents, Mr Abugu revealed that the State Water Corporation has set up a three-man committee to investigate and give update on the state of the ailing facilities with a view to tackling the setbacks inherent in the system.
