ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT MOVES TO IMPROVE WATER SUPPLY
Enugu State Government has announced plan to ensure regular water supply in the state.
The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr. Charles Egumgbe, made this known while briefing journalists after a closed-door executive council meeting held at Government House Enugu.
Mr. Egumgbe said the State Government was targeting about 4,000 cubic meters of water within the year.
The Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Emeka Okeke, and his counterpart in the Information Ministry, Mr. Ogbuagu Anikwe, indicated that the state government would appoint Liaison officers across the 457,000 autonomous communities in the state, to relay information affecting those at the grassroots to the State Government.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, Ambassador Fidel Ayaogu, said that the State Government had kitted over 200 sweepers and mower operators to ensure improved productivity in environmental cleanliness.
Ambassador Ayaogu said that the jumpsuit distributed was to enhance the corporate profile of the adhoc staff as they discharge their duties in the roads
The Executive Council mandated the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources, Dr. Bernadine Ezeugwu, to take charge of the welfare of the staff that were to clean the Enugu metropolis and Nsukka urban.
