REPORTER: LAWRENCE NWOKEDI

Muslim faithful have been enjoined to use the Eid El Kabir celebration to pray for the unity, peace and progress of the country.

The Chief Imam Umuahia Central Mosque, Alhaji Aminu Lawal, made the call during the Eid prayer at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

He urged the faithful to show love to one another always irrespective of religious differences.

Alhaji Lawal also encouraged them to pray for God’s guidance to those in leadership positions at the federal and the state levels.

The Chief Imam further urged Muslims to join hands with the federal government in the fight against all forms of insecurity bedeviling the country.

The Sarikin Hausawa of Abia State, Alhaji Yaro Danladi, while wishing the faithful a happy Sallah celebration, called on both the Muslim and the Christian faithful to always shun all forms of religious bigotry and try to live in peace with one another.

The event featured the usual slaughtering of ram by the Chief Imam after the Eid prayer.
