EBONYI STATE HOUSE CALLS FOR LASTING SOLUTION TO ITS LAND DISPUTE WITH CROSS RIVER
Ebonyi State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging the Federal Government to bring lasting solution to the boundary crisis between Ochienyim Community in Ikwo Local Government Area of the State and Adadama in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State.
In an interview with Radio Nigeria, the Chief Whip and Spokesman of the House, Chief Imo Oguji representing Ikwo South Constituency explained that the resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance brought before the House.
Chief Oguji emphasized that the House was worried over an alleged invasion of Ochienyim Community last week which left about fifteen people dead while property and food crops worth millions of Naira were destroyed.
According to him, members expressed dismay over the delay by the National Boundary Commission to demarcate the disputed land considering that the issue had lingered for decades and taken uncountable human lives.
Chief Oguji said the House also called on the National Emergency Management Agency to assist the survivors of the attack with relief materials as many of them had lost their means of livelihood.
