EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT INVESTIGATES ALLEGATION OF EXHTORTION OF RETIREES BY SOME STATE AUDITORS
Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has ordered the State Head of Service and the Fiscal Responsibility Commission to carry out full investigation into the activities of officials of the State Audit in the office of the State Auditor-General.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Emmanuel Uzor explains that the directive follows allegations that the officials of the Audit Unit are extorting money from retirees to facilitate the payment of their gratuities.
Chief Umahi explained that the State Government had while trying to prevent such allegations and doctoring of entitlements of the retirees, set up a special Committee headed by the Deputy Governor to determine proper entitlements accruable to each pensioner.
He emphasized that anyone found culpable in the allegation would face the full weight of the law.
