EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT DEMANDS EQUITY IN ARMY RECRUITMENT.

The Nigerian Army says it has integrated Special Forces Concept in the training of its troops to strengthen their adaptability during irregular, conventional, asymmetrical and hybrid warfare.

The Director Army Recruitment, Resettlement and Reserve, Ministry of Defence Abuja, Brigadier General Henry Akpan, stated this during a visit to Governor David Umahi at Government House Abakaliki.

Brigadier General Akpan explained that the policy was in line with the strategic vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Brutai, to strengthen the capacity of the Army in the event of counter insurgency anywhere in the country.

Governor Umahi represented by his Deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe commended the Nigerian Army for ensuring that the country’s territorial integrity was protected but called for equity in its recruitment exercise.

The Army Recruitment, Resettlement and Reserve Team also sensitized selected youths from the thirteen Local Government Areas of the State to the need to join the Nigerian Army.
