ASH WEDNESDAY: ANGLICAN BISHOP SUES FOR PEACEFUL NEIGHBOURLINESS

Christians have been urged to re-direct their lives to the service of God and humanity.

The Anglican Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, the Right Reverend Geoffrey Ibeabuchi, made this known while speaking with Radio Nigeria on the significance of Ash Wednesday.

The Right Reverend L Ibeabuchi noted that Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of the Lenten period in the Christian calendar and urged Christians to see the day as a day for repentance, reconciliation with God and sober reflection.

The Anglican Bishop charged Christians and non Christians to always embrace peace and love as peace remained paramount to the development of the country.

On the insecurity crisis bedeviling the country, Bishop Ibeabuchi called on those in the leadership positions to wake up to their responsibility by tackling the challenge head-on.

He advised youths to shun all forms of social vices, including banditry, kidnapping, prostitution, robbery and all other forms of killings; stating that such were evil acts in the sight of God.
