EBONYI GUBER: INEC SETS REVIEW COMMITTEE OVER ISHIELU LGA RESULT

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has appointed a review committee to look into the Governorship Election Results collated from Ishielu Local Government Area using uploaded results in the IREV.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ebonyi State, Mrs. Onyeka Ugochi, announced this at the State Collation Centre,INEC Headquarters Abakaliki.

She noted that INEC arrived at the decision following the inability of the Collation Officer deployed to Ishielu Local Government Area and the Electoral Officer in the Area to compute results that would tally with other data.

“We have checked our IREV, they finished uploading their result hundred percent since yesterday, today they complained of result sheets, we gave them replacement results and they are still finding it difficult to get us right.

“I have called Abuja and we are of the opinion that the Administrative Head should head the review committee now.

“We are going to take it from what is contained in IREV and form EC8A and where it fails to tally, we will cancel the result,” she added

The REC said that the State Collation Centre would open by 10am on Tuesday (20/3/23) for conclusion and declaration of the winner.

Meanwhile, results from 12 Local Government Areas have been collated except that of Ishielu.
