DR. UWABUNKEONYE ONWUSI SWORN IN AS EBONYI STATE HIGH COURT JUDGE

Ebonyi State Government has sworn in Dr. UwabunkeonyeOnwusi as the State High Court Judge following his recommendation by the National Judicial Council, NJC.

Justice UwabunkonyeOnwusi was before now the Senior Special Assistant on Legal Services to Governor DavidUmahi but was the only candidate out of four nominees from Ebonyi State who passed recent screening exercise conducted by the NJC.

Performing the function at Government House Abakaliki, Governor Umahi said the qualification of Justice Onwusi as the State High Court Judge underscored the need for people to always take their callings and profession very seriously.

Governor Umahi commended Justice Onwusi for his desire to contribute his quota to the temple of justice and charged him to carry out his duty with the fear of God.

Chief Umahi noted that the state government was impressed with the contributions of the State Judiciary on the advancement of the nation’s democracy.

He released Twenty million Naira to kick start the reconstruction of the premises of its Headquarters in Abakaliki.

The Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Mr Cletus Ofoke explained that the quest for the appointment of a new State High Court Judge became necessary following vacancies for such position in the State Judiciary.

Reacting to his swearing in, Justice Onwusi said he would discharge his responsibility in line with the oaths of Allegiance and that of the High Court Judge administered on him and commended the National Judicial Council for finding him worthy to be appointed a Judge.

Two Justices of Appeal Court,Mr. ObandeOgbuinyia and Mr.Paul Elechi were among important dignitaries who witnessed the ceremony.

Governor Umahi also distributed about forty three jeeps and Hilux Vans to some of the State Executive Council members, Chairmen of Boards and Commissions as well as stakeholders and consultants to the State Government.
