DIETICIAN CAUTIONS AGAINST CONSUMPTION OF UNRIPE PLANTAIN AND WHEAT BY DIABETIC PATIENTS
A dietitian has cautioned diabetic patients against eating unripe plantain and wheat as the only solution to manage the illness.
The dietician Mrs. Emilia Eze from the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki stated this during an interactive session at a free medical outreach in Nsukka, Enugu State.
Mrs. Eze said that such practice could lead to other health problems in the long run.
The dietician explained that eating the right portion of food and vegetables remained the best way to manage diabetics.
Mrs. Eze advised diabetics to consult dieticians close to them for professional guidance noting that proper check by dieticians could help prevent future crisis.
She called on Nigerians to ensure they ate wholesome food that contained all the essential nutrients.
