DISABILITY DAY: GOV OTTI FELICITATES PWDs, PROMISES “NO DISCRIMINATION”

REPORTER: PEACE AGBO

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, says his administration will continue to consider the interest of persons with disabilities in all of its programmes and policies.

Governor Otti stated this in his goodwill message as Nigeria joins the globe to commemorate the International Disability Day with the theme for 2023— “United in action to rescue and achieve the SDGs for, with and by persons with disabilities.”

He noted that the day’s commemoration provided another opportunity for the government to reflect on the contributions of people of Abia State, with persons living with disabilities, to the socio-economic development of the State.

According to the statement, the “government is committed to increased awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic, and cultural life.”

The statement pledged that present administration would continue to say no to all forms of discrimination, stigma, and isolation of Abia residents with disability.
