CONSTITUENTS COMMEND TOBY OKECHUKWU’S FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH

The Deputy President of the Senate, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, has attributed the delay in the completion of ongoing projects in the South East to lack of funds and appeals to the Federal Government to do all it can to fast track the completion of the projects.

Chief Ekweremadu stated this at the free medical outreach organized for the people of Greater Awgu Federal Constituency at Cottage Hospital Nenwe, Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The outreach was one of the numerous legislative social responsibilities of Chief Toby Okechukwu representing Aninri, Awgu , Oji River Federal Constituency.

According to Chief Ekweremadu, the allegation that members of the National Assembly do not execute their constituency projects is not true, saying that many of such projects in Enugu West have been completed while others are still ongoing.

He commended Chief Toby Okechukwu for attracting meaningful projects to the area and called on the Federal Government to release funds to ensure the completion of ongoing projects before the end of the present administration.

Corroborating the assertion of Chief Ekweremadu, the Director of Project and programme in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Simon Obidike, who led a team to supervise some projects in the zone, said they were satisfied with what they saw on ground.

The Chairman Ohaneze Ndigbo in Enugu State, Chief Alex Ogbonnia and a former Commissioner in the state, Dr. Godwin Udehele, said the people of the area were blessed with leaders who were determined to improve the quality of lives and standard of living in the zone.

For Chief Toby Okechukwu, who is the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on works, the people needed to be healthy to enjoy other facilities brought to them and assured them of continued quality representation.

In a remark, the leader of the “On the Move Africa,” Dr. Joseph Kigbu, said more than 3,000 (three thousand) indigent persons had so far benefited from the programme, expressing regret that the concept of Universal Health Coverage was yet to be attained in the country.

Some of the beneficiaries commended Chief Toby Okechuku for the health intervention programme and assured him of their continued support.
