RADIO NIGERIA, ENUGU COAL CITY FM HONOURS DESERVING NIGERIANS AND STAFF

Some prominent Nigerians have commended Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN for promoting national cohesion and advancing development of the country through quality programmes and objective news coverage.

They made the assertion at the 3rd edition of annual Achievers Award & Dinner of Radio Nigeria Enugu Coal City 92.9 FM.

It was indeed a gathering of crème la crème in the society, as Coal City FM acknowledged some prominent Nigerians who had positively impacted the society in their sphere of human endeavours and honoured some members of staff of Coal City Fm Enugu For their dedication and commitment to duty.

Some of the award recipients are the Founder and leader Living Christ Mission, Worldwide, the Most Rev Daddy Hezekiah, represented by a Professor of Political Science, Bonn Obiekwe Nwanolue; the Special Adviser to the Enugu State Governor on Political matters, Chief Ejikeme Odumegwu; and the Traditional Ruler of Diogbe Community in Igbo-Etiti local government area of Enugu State, Dr. Uchenna Anikwe.

Others include, a Professor of Mass Communication, Professor Linus Ogbuoshi, a the Senator representing Anambra North District, Senator Stella Oduah and a business Mogul, Mr. Mark Chidi Obetta.

They described Radio Nigeria, Coal City FM as a model of public broadcasting and encouraged the station to hold on to its mandate of uplifting the people and uniting the nation.

Some members of staff of the station, including Mr. Chinedu Chukwu, Chinelo Ozoalor, Von Nwadukwe and Lilian Anukwem, were honoured for their productivity.

In a remark, the Chairman of the Occasion, Chief Tony Onyima, described the media as a catalyst of social and economic development of the nation.

According to him, journalism plays a critical role in providing the people with the right information to make the best possible decisions about their lives, communities and the government. He also commended Radio Nigeria for living up to expectations.

Another guest and Director General, Voice of Nigeria, VON, Mr. Osita Okechukwu commended Radio Nigeria for maintaining high standard in its news broadcast.

The Zonal Director, FRCN Enugu National Station, Mr. Ken Ike Okere, said the station had brought a lot of innovations to enable it to serve the people of the South East zone better.

Mr. Okere encouraged the people of the zone to take advantage of the wide coverage of the station to voice their opinions on issues of national importance, stressing that Radio Nigeria as a public broadcast station had remained impartial in all its programmes and would not compromise standard.

The General Manger of Coal City FM, Mrs. Joy Obitulata, explained that the annual Achievers Award was initiated to appreciate hard work and motivate workers for increased productivity.

The event featured performances by FRCN National Choir, talk shows and comedy.
